Democrat Brianne Gregory will continue her role as Monroe County Auditor after running unopposed in her election bid Tuesday.

Gregory announced she would run for the position in December 2023 while serving as county financial director. In February, the Monroe County Democratic Caucus selected her to fill the role of auditor after it was vacated by Catherine Smith, who left to become the county treasurer.

The county auditor is elected to a four-year term and is permitted to serve a maximum of two consecutive terms.

In the role, Gregory will serve as the chief financial officer of Monroe County. She will be responsible for preparing the county’s budget as well as its annual financial report. She also monitors and manages county employee payroll and benefits.

Gregory’s financial duties include monitoring payroll and benefits for all county employees as well as budget planning for the Monroe County Council. She will be involved with distributing tax dollars and exemptions while also serving as secretary for the Monroe County Board of Commissioners and County Council.
