Indiana football is ranked No. 5 and seeded No. 7 in the College Football Playoff rankings released Tuesday night. Last week, the Hoosiers checked in at No. 8 while being seeded No. 9.
If the season ended today, the Cream and Crimson would host the No. 10 University of Alabama at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer formerly served as the Hoosiers’ offensive coordinator in 2019.
In Indiana’s first nine victories, it won all its games by at least 14 points. But in their 20-15 victory over Michigan on Nov. 9, the Hoosiers showed their ability to find a way to win close games as championship teams do, according to head coach Curt Cignetti.
This week serves as Indiana’s second bye week of the season –– its first coming between victories over Northwestern on Oct. 5 and Nebraska on Oct. 19.
The Hoosiers return to action at noon Nov. 23 against No. 2 Ohio State at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff will be held outside “The Shoe.” Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt will be on the call.
