In early October of this year, the Media School announced an action plan for student media at IU. In response to this announcement, student leaders and professional staff at the Indiana Daily Student have been meeting with members of the IU Media School in an effort to both implement the plan and bring clarity to the future of the IDS. We are excited to announce that through the cooperation and partnership with the Media School, the IDS will continue printing with a reduced schedule beginning with the Spring 2025 semester. Starting in January 2025, special printed editions of the newspaper will be distributed to newsstands on the following dates:
- Jan. 16
- Feb. 6
- Feb. 27
- March 13
- April 3
- April 17
- May 8
This reduction in the regular print schedule is a cost savings measure to help reduce the annual deficit, while continuing to deliver a printed product for our dedicated readers on and off campus. In addition, all other operations of the IDS will proceed as normal and we will continue to publish daily news through various digital mediums including the website, social media platforms, emails and more. The IDS will also look to expand through collaborations with our media partners IUSTV and WIUX under the converged umbrella organization IU Student Media.
