A rape that occurred Aug. 19 on the IU Bloomington campus was reported to the IU Police Department on Dec. 4.

IU’s Title IX Office reported the incident to IUPD, IUPD Public Information Officer Hannah Skibba wrote in an email. The individual involved did not report the incident directly to IUPD, and the case has been referred to university officials for review.

IU defines rape as the nonconsensual penetration of the private body parts by an object or any body part of another person or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person. There have been 22 cases of rape reported to IUPD since Aug. 21, according to Skibba.

A list of resources is available here if you or someone you know has experienced sexual harassment or abuse.

CORRECTION: This story has been updated with a number of rapes reported to IUPD since Aug. 21 provided by Public Information Officer Hannah Skibba.
