Campus events to help you survive ‘Dead Week'

One of the most dreaded, anxiety-inducing weeks of the year for many students is here. The days leading up to finals week can be stressful, as students struggle to find study spots and cram their brains with a semester’s-worth of information, so here are some events around campus to make “Dead Week” a little easier. 

College Care Week 

Monday through Friday, The Walter Career Center on the second floor of Ernie Pyle Hall will offer breakfast 9-11:30 a.m., afternoon snacks from noon to 4 p.m. and a quiet space to study all day, as well as various arts and crafts. Meet the College of Arts and Sciences faculty pets Monday from noon to 4 p.m., a trail mix station Tuesday from noon to 4 p.m., Baked! cookies Wednesday from noon to 4 p.m., and much more. Balance Week 

The Kelley School of Business’s weeklong wellness events take place at Hodge Hall Monday through Thursday. “Balance Week” will feature breakfast sandwiches from 9-11 a.m. and a graffiti banner for students to draw on from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday. Snack on cookies from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday. Visit room 2020 of Hodge Hall for a rage room a space to destress by breaking objects — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday. Enjoy free popcorn from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday. 

Soup and Study Break 

Stop by for soup and snacks from noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Asian Culture Center. 

Study Nights 

The Office of International Services will be hosting study nights with free snacks 5-9 p.m., Monday through Thursday on the fourth floor of the Ferguson International Center.  

Soup for the Soul 

Fill up with a warm cup of soup and a place to study from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at La Casa Latino Cultural Center.  

Boba Grab & Go 

The Ferguson International Center will also be handing out bubble tea from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday or until it’s gone in the lobby. 

Open Study Hall 

Visit for free coffee, snacks and a study space from 2-7 p.m., Wednesday to Friday at the newly reopened IU Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology’s Room 111. 

Pause for Paws  

Get a little puppy love in from noon to 3 p.m. Thursday in the Ferguson International Center lobby. Therapy dogs from South Central Indiana Love on a Leash will be available for petting. 

Cocoa & Cookies Grab & Go 

For a sweet study break, stop by to grab free hot cocoa and cookies between noon and 2 p.m. Friday in the lobby of the Ferguson International Center. Treats will be available until supplies run out.
