The following is a press release written by Desiree DeMolina and Deputy Chief Max Litwin for the City of Bloomington.
The Bloomington Fire Department (BFD) is proud to announce the return of its annual holiday food drive, “Heroes Helping Hoosiers.” Throughout December, BFD will collect non-perishable food items to support local nonprofits working to combat hunger in our community.
Since its launch in 2019, this food drive has become a meaningful way for BFD and Bloomington residents to come together and make the holidays brighter for neighbors in need. By donating, you can play a crucial role in ensuring everyone has a chance to enjoy the holiday season.
Residents are encouraged to drop off non-perishable food items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and boxed meals at any of the following locations throughout December:
- BFD Administration Headquarters: 320 W. 8th St., Suite 220 (Showers West)
- Station 1: 300 E. 4th St.
- Station 2: 290 S. Fairfield Dr.
- Station 4: 2201 E. 3rd St.
- Station 5: 1987 S. Henderson St.
“Many individuals in our community find themselves unable to enjoy the holidays due to hunger,” says Deputy Chief Max Litwin. “This is an opportunity for us to change that and help give everyone the holiday season that they deserve. The Fire Department is honored to assist with this cause and make a positive impact to Bloomington's residents.”
