Indiana football sixth-year senior quarterback Kurtis Rourke won the Jon Kornish Trophy, according to a release Monday. The award recognizes the top Canadian player in NCAA football each season.

Rourke, who transferred to Indiana after five seasons at Ohio University, guided the Hoosiers to an 11-2 record in his lone season in Bloomington. Rourke played in 12 of 13 games, missing Indiana’s win over Washington on Oct. 26 with a right thumb injury he suffered against Nebraska on Oct. 19.

The Oakville, Ontario, Canada, native completed 69.4% of his passes as he set Indiana’s single season passing touchdown record (29) while producing the fifth 3,000-yard passing season in program history with his 3,042 yards. Rourke tossed just five interceptions and notched a pair of rushing touchdowns.

Rourke finished ninth in voting for the Heisman Trophy as he earned second-team All-Big Ten honors. He also was a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award and the Davey O’Brien Award.

Rourke’s older brother, Nathan, who played at Ohio from 2017-19, won the award in 2017 and 2018.

With Indiana’s loss to the University of Notre Dame in the College Football Playoff First Round on Dec. 20, Rourke’s collegiate career ended. He finished with a 31-15 record as a starter, racking up 10,693 passing yards, 79 passing touchdowns and 13 rushing touchdowns over six seasons.
