For the second time in less than a week, University of Alabama at Birmingham transfer Lee Beebe Jr. has committed to Indiana football.
On Dec. 13, On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos reported Beebe Jr. signed with Indiana. Then, on the following Sunday, Nakos reported Beebe Jr. had re-opened his recruitment.
Now, two days later, Beebe Jr. announced that he is “100% committed” to the Hoosiers, according to his post on Instagram. He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
The Montgomery, Alabama, native redshirted his true freshman season before totaling 360 yards and four touchdowns in 2023. He racked up 884 rushing yards and seven touchdowns in his redshirt sophomore campaign in 2024 while also making 30 catches for 219 yards.
While Indiana is preparing for its College Football Playoff First Round matchup with the University of Notre Dame on Dec. 20, it's also doing the same for next season.
Seventh-year senior Ty Son Lawton and fifth-year senior Justice Ellison –– the Hoosiers’ potent running back duo, will both exhaust their eligibility at the end of this season. So will seventh-year senior Solomon VanHorse, who has primarily played on special teams. And with redshirt junior Elijah Green entering the transfer portal Dec. 13, the Hoosiers were slated to have just two returning scholarship running backs: redshirt junior Kaelon Black, who has just 46 carries this season, and freshman Khobie Martin.
Now, Beebe Jr. will likely compete for the starting job with Black come next season. As of Beebe Jr.’s commitment, the Hoosiers now have five transfer portal commitments alongside a pair of defensive players and specialists.
