After transferring away from Indiana football last offseason to play at the University of Mississippi, Louis Moore will return to Indiana. The safety signed with the Hoosiers, according to On3 Sports’ Pete Nakos’ X post Saturday.
Moore arrived at Indiana before the 2022 season after transferring from Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. He tallied just nine tackles and one tackle for loss in his first season donning the Cream and Crimson.
In 2023, Moore played in all 12 of the Hoosiers’ games, making 10 starts. He racked up 82 tackles, one tackle for loss and three interceptions while also forcing a fumble.
When Indiana hired head coach Curt Cignetti on Nov. 30, 2023, Moore entered the transfer portal. He then committed to Ole Miss nearly two weeks later.
Across 10 games with the Rebels, Moore accumulated 33 tackles and two tackles for loss. He then entered the portal Dec. 25 after just one season in Oxford, Mississippi. Now, just three days later, the former Hoosier is again a Hoosier.
Moore is Indiana’s 11th acquisition out of the portal — and the fourth on the defensive side. He is the second defensive back in this portal cycle alongside Northern Illinois University transfer Amariyun Knighten.
The Hoosiers are slated to have a pair of returning starting defensive backs in redshirt junior Jamier Johnson and sophomore Amare Ferrell. Shawn Asbury II and Terry Jones Jr., who both played safety, each exhausted their eligibility as Moore will likely slot in on the back end.
After the NCAA granted junior college transfers an additional season of collegiate eligibility, he has one season of eligibility remaining.
