Robert Q. Berry III will serve as the Indiana University Bloomington School of Education dean beginning in April 2025, according to a press release.
He will help develop the School of Education’s reputation and partnerships with local and international communities, according to the release. He will also oversee the school’s academics, research and faculty and staff.
“I look forward to collaborating with such a talented and diverse group of scholars, practitioners and students to advance the school’s goals, deepen its global connections and continue making a lasting impact on education at all levels,” Berry said in the press release.
Berry will succeed Anastasia Morrone, who has served in the position since July 2021 and earned $343,833 during the 2025 fiscal year, according to Office of the University Controller's website.
He has served as dean and chair of the University of Arizona College of Education since 2022. Before that, he served as professor and associate dean of diversity, equity and inclusion at the University of Virginia.
At the University of Arizona, Berry created an international partnership with Kozybayev University in Kazakhstan, the University of Guanajuato and the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He also helped develop a podcast series in 2023, which highlights faculty and graduate student research.
“Robert joins the School of Education at a pivotal moment of growth and transformation,” IU President Pamela Whitten said in the press release. “His leadership will be instrumental in advancing the school’s longstanding commitment to preparing skilled teachers, researchers and leaders who make a lasting impact on the education field.”
Berry is a member of the National Academy of Education, which researches education policy and practice.
He earned a doctorate degree in education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003 and has degrees at Old Dominion University and Christopher Newport University.
