Indiana women’s basketball sophomore guard Lenée Beaumont underwent successful knee surgery this week and will miss the rest of the season, according to an Indiana Athletics release Thursday.

Beaumont missed the Hoosiers’ exhibition matchup against Maryville University on Oct. 30 with what Indiana head coach Teri Moren described as a nagging knee injury suffered toward the end of the summer. Moren went on to say that she expected Beaumont to return.

The Lisle, Illinois, native warmed up ahead of Indiana’s season-opener against Brown University with what appeared to be a brace and heavy wrap on her left knee. She did not play in the contest.

Beaumont then missed the Hoosiers’ next seven games before Moren announced Dec. 1, after Indiana defeated the University of Maine, the 6-foot-1 guard would undergo a procedure in the “next couple weeks.”

Now, almost three weeks later, Beaumont’s surgery is complete. She is officially out for the remainder of Indiana’s season, allowing her to use a medical redshirt year. When she returns to the court next season, she will be a redshirt sophomore with three seasons of eligibility.

During Beaumont’s freshman season, she saw action in 30 of Indiana’s 32 games. She played 9.6 minutes per contest as she averaged 3 points per game.

Indiana’s season continues at noon Dec. 22 against Oakland University inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington. The matchup will stream on Big Ten+.
