Indiana women’s basketball graduate student guard Sydney Parrish, who suffered a left knee injury against Baylor University on Nov. 24, will be out for “at least a couple of weeks,” according to Indiana head coach Teri Moren’s pregame radio interview Sunday.
Parrish missed the Hoosiers’ 30-point loss to the University of North Carolina on Nov. 25. On Sunday, she sported a brace on her left knee as she watched from the sideline.
The Fishers, Indiana, native previously missed seven games last season with a broken foot. She also suffered an ankle injury in Indiana’s lone exhibition game against Maryville University on Oct. 30.
“It’s tough when you have an injury, especially with somebody like Syd,” graduate student guard Chloe Moore-McNeil said after Indiana’s victory Sunday. “Works her butt off. Fifth-year senior –– she should be out there with me as well, enjoying our last season together.”
While Parrish missed her second game of the season Sunday, sophomore guard Lenée Beaumont has now missed all eight games.
Moren previously stated Beaumont suffered a left knee injury toward the end of the summer and that she expected Beaumont to return. But ahead of the Hoosiers’ trip to the Bahamas for the Battle 4 Atlantis, Moren explained Beaumont was not progressing well.
Now, two weeks later, Moren provided another update on the Lisle, Illinois, native’s status.
“Lenée is going to have a procedure done here in the next couple weeks,” Moren said. “So not quite sure her availability, when that’ll be, but we finally came to the decision that she will have a procedure done on her knee.”
Indiana, now 5-3, hosts the University of Southern Indiana at 7 p.m. Wednesday inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington. The matchup will stream on Big Ten+.
