The IU chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. was placed on suspension effective Nov. 15.
The fraternity was suspended for dishonest conduct, endangering others, physical abuse and hazing, according to IU’s organizations on disciplinary status log.
According to IU’s definitions of disciplinary statuses, IU requires the student organization to cease and desist all activities and disband after suspension. The length of a suspension will be proposed by the Administrative Conference Panel and decided by the dean of students.
The fraternity was previously placed on cease and desist Oct. 27, 2023, for hazing.
Kappa Alpha Psi joins the list of nine other campus organizations currently suspended but is the first organization to be suspended this year. The Indian Student Association and the Sigma Chi fraternity were placed on cease and desist on Oct. 1 and Nov. 5, respectively.
The national Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
