College Mall has a new coffee shop: Jughead & Murphys. The kiosk, named after owners and mother-daughter pair Tiffany and Peyton Januik’s chocolate labrador retriever Jughead and lab border-collie mix Murphy, opened Nov. 29.
The location offers standard coffees such as flat whites, macchiatos, cappuccinos, lattes, cold brew, iced coffee and hot coffee. All of their beverages are available in sugar-free options as well.
The shop also offers specialty drinks that will rotate at the first of every month called “Alfie’s Brews of the Month,” which is named after their third dog. The current specialty drink flavors are pumpkin spice latte, peppermint mocha and gingerbread latte.
The beans of all of the coffee-based options are sourced from Indianapolis roastery Tinker Coffee. In addition to drinks, it has a variety of pastries such as cookies, muffins and free pup lattes and biscuits for dogs.
Aside from providing food and beverages, the founders hope to partner with local animal shelters in the future to encourage adoptions at their location. Their pet-friendly atmosphere encourages pets in the mall which will continue as long as people continue picking up after their dogs, Tiffany said.
“Everybody loves coffee, everybody loves dogs,” Tiffany said. “Something to bring people together, in a world where people keep getting divided.”
They follow the hours of the malls and open about 30 minutes before the shops to have coffee available for workers to purchase. Their plan is to continue to grow in the next couple of years by opening shops in two other malls in Indiana, including Greenwood Park Mall.
