Two sexual assaults and one rape were reported to Bloomington Police Department on Wednesday.

A detective began an investigation into a rape reported by a 16-year-old woman, BPD Detective Joe Henry said. He said the department couldn’t comment on the case because it was an active investigation.

Two sexual assaults were also reported on Third Street. An 80-year-old woman told BPD that an unknown male sexually assaulted her while shopping on East Third Street. A 64-year-old woman reported an unknown male sexually assaulted her on West Third Street.

"I’m looking at it as if they’re related,” Henry said of the two incidents.

BPD has assigned the cases to a detective but does not yet have a suspect for the assaults.

The department recommended anyone with information to contact Detective Joshua Burnworth; 812-349-3363.
