Rutgers’ star freshman guard Dylan Harper was ruled out prior to the Scarlet Knights’ contest against Indiana men’s basketball on Thursday, despite being listed as questionable on the Big Ten availability report.
NJ Advance Media reported an hour and a half before tipoff that Harper was not scheduled to play.
Harper entered Thursday leading the Scarlet Knights in scoring and assists, tallying 22.8 points and 4.8 assists per game in 13 appearances. He averaged 34.3 minutes per contest, just ahead of fellow star freshman guard/forward Ace Bailey’s 33.5 minutes.
A former five-star recruit and No. 3 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class according to 247Sports, Harper is one of only two Rutgers players averaging double-digit scoring alongside Bailey.
Harper did not participate in warmups and sat on the bench without a uniform on prior to the game.
