Former Indiana men’s soccer forward Mason Toye signed with the MLS’ Sporting Kansas City FC, according to a release Monday. Since his time at Indiana, Toye has scored 25 goals across 140 games in seven professional seasons and competed for the US Men’s National U23 team.

Toye spent one season at Indiana in 2017, when he scored 10 goals in 25 games and won Big Ten Freshman of the Year. Toye also led Indiana to an NCAA National Championship appearance the same season.

He entered the MLS SuperDraft the following year and joined Minnesota United FC as the seventh pick in the draft. After two years with Minnesota, Toye was traded to CF Montreal in 2020.

In his first full season in Montreal, Toye scored a career high seven goals and helped lead the team to a win in the Canadian Championship in 2021. Toye's next season at Montreal was the best in club history, marked by a 2-1 comeback against the Seattle Sounders. Toye scored another three goals in his 2023 season at Montreal, one of which was against his former club.

After playing 12 more games for Montreal in 2024, Toye was traded to the Portland Timbers last July. He made five appearances for the Timbers before being signed as a free agent by Sporting KC on Monday. Toye's season with Sporting KC kicks off Feb.18 in an anticipated matchup against Lionel Messi and Inter Miami CF in the first round of the Concacaf Champions Cup.
