Indiana track and field finishes second indoor meet of the season

Indiana track and field traveled to Indianapolis to compete in the Crossroads of America meet Jan. 24-25. Despite less victories than the Indiana Invitational on Jan 17-18, Indiana still brought home a few wins at the Crossroads of America meet. 

For the women, freshman Veronica Hargrave won the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:10.32. Sophomore Amelia Dodds got another win for the Hoosiers in the 600-meter dash with a time of 1:28.39. Additionally, freshman Maddie Rocchio got her first sub five-minute mile with a time of 4:58.10 

In the field for the women, senior Mahogany Jenkins placed third in the triple jump with a length of 12.75 meters. 

Both the men and women had dominant showings in the 4x400 meter relay. The men’s quartet of junior John Colquitt, freshman CJ Martin, junior Novo Onovwerosuoke and freshman Daquan Tate got a time of 3:13.42, which earned them fourth place in the event. The women had two top five teams: sophomore Kristina Vincic, graduate student Morgan Snow, freshman Katelyn Henselmeier and sophomore Amelia Dodds placed third with a time of 3:47.43 while sophomore Ryann Parrish, junior Kylee Poulton, freshman Nola Somers Glenn and sophomore Cambell Wamsley placed fifth with a time of 3:38.89.  

In the men’s 60-meter dash, senior Trelee Banks and graduate student Tamer Saleh were seemingly stuck together and got fourth and fifth with times of 6.82 and 6.84, respectively. Banks and Saleh also placed third and fourth in the men’s 200-meter dash with times of 21.02 and 21.50, respectively.  

After coming off a three-week winning streak in the 60m hurdles, junior John Colquitt finished sixth in preliminaries before placing last in the finals with a time of 8.06.  

In the field for the men, freshman Seth Brosseau’s shot put throw of 17.54m earned him sixth place overall.  

Next up the Hoosiers travel to Indianapolis, Boston, Massachusetts, Louisville, Kentucky and South Bend, Indiana, on Friday and Saturday to compete in the Midwest Classic, John Thomas Terrier Classic, Lenny Lyles Invitational and the Meyo Invitational.
