Former Indiana women’s basketball guard Sara Scalia, who now plays for La Molisana Magnolia Campobasso, earned January MVP in Italy’s Serie A1 league, according to a release Monday.
Over her squad’s three games in the month, Scalia averaged 19.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. The sharpshooter shot 62% from 3-point range, scoring all her points from beyond the arc or at the free throw line.
In Scalia’s final collegiate season at Indiana in 2023-24, she shot 36.9% on long balls and set the single-season school record for most 3-pointers in a season with 103.
After Scalia transferred to Indiana following three seasons at Minnesota, she became the program’s leader in 3-point percentage (39.5%) and free throw percentage (90.5%).
The Stillwater, Minnesota, native went undrafted in the 2024 WNBA Draft before signing with La Molisana Magnolia Campobasso last May. Scalia and her squad are 11-3 this season, currently sitting third in the table with 22 points.
