After Indiana baseball began its season with four consecutive losses, the Hoosiers were slated to return home for their home opener at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

However, with a high temperature of just 23 degrees and a slight chance of snow forecasted for Wednesday, the contest against Purdue University Fort Wayne is canceled, according to an Indiana Athletics release. The matchup is currently not set to be rescheduled to a later date.

The Hoosiers, who played their season-opening series in Surprise, Arizona, fell to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas twice during their opening weekend Feb. 14-17. They also lost to No. 7 Oregon State University and Xavier University to begin the season 0-4 for just the second time under seventh-year head coach Jeff Mercer.

Indiana will travel to Cary, North Carolina, to face off with Northwestern, Fordham University and Harvard University from Friday to Sunday. The Cream and Crimson’s home opener is now scheduled for 4 p.m. Feb. 25 against Xavier at Bart Kaufman Field in Bloomington.
