Indiana men’s basketball’s 2025-26 season is currently wrapped in uncertainty amid a looming head coaching change and subsequent roster turnover.
But the Hoosiers’ nonconference schedule has another guaranteed inclusion.
Indiana will play Marquette University on Nov. 9, 2025, at the United Center, home of the Chicago Bulls, Indiana Athletics announced in a press release Wednesday. Ticket and television details haven’t yet been announced for the opening-week contest.
The two programs have met 10 times previously, but only twice in the 21st century. Their last matchup came Nov. 14, 2018, when Indiana took a 96-73 victory over Marquette in Bloomington. The Hoosiers hold an 8-2 edge in the all-time series and are 4-0 at home.
Indiana’s non-conference schedule drew criticism this year. Apart from a trip to the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, the Hoosiers scheduled only one Power Four team: the University of South Carolina, which is currently 0-13 in the Southeastern Conference.
But Indiana’s out-of-conference schedule is already off to a more challenging start. In addition to facing Marquette, which is 21-6 and presently ranked 16th in the country, the Hoosiers will start their four-year series against the University of Kentucky with a Dec. 20 road game against the Wildcats.
Indiana head coach Mike Woodson is stepping down at the end of this season. Now, his successor will face at least two premier non-conference opponents before starting full-time Big Ten play.
