Former Indiana women’s basketball forward Mackenzie Holmes officially signed with the WNBA’s Seattle Storm on Thursday, according to the team’s release.
Holmes, who played at Indiana from 2019-24 and leads the program in all-time scoring with 2,530 points, was originally drafted by the Storm with the No. 26 overall pick in the third round of the 2024 WNBA Draft.
During Holmes’ career in Bloomington, she dealt with several knee injuries, which led her to undergo surgery to repair her knee. As a result, the Gorham, Maine, native missed the entirety of the 2024 season.
While recovering, Holmes has served as a graduate manager with the Hoosiers throughout their 2024-25 season. Holmes helps coach the post players while assisting with technical work and team operations.
During Indiana’s West Coast trip at the end of January, the Hoosiers practiced at the Storm’s facility ahead of their victory over Washington on Jan. 27.
The Storm are coming off a 25-15 season in which they finished third in the Western Conference before falling to the Las Vegas Aces in the opening round of the playoffs.
WNBA training camp is slated to begin April 27 before the regular season starts May 16.
