The following is a press release written by Desiree DeMolina for the City of Bloomington.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The City of Bloomington invites residents to apply for the 2025 Resident-Led Traffic Calming Program, an initiative designed to improve safety and reduce vehicle speeds on residential streets.

Now in its fifth year, the program has supported neighborhoods across Bloomington in implementing traffic calming measures such as speed humps, resulting in measurable speed reductions and safer streets.

Residents interested in proposing traffic calming measures in their neighborhood should submit a letter of intent by Friday, April 4. The full application deadline is Friday, April 25. Applications will be reviewed between May and June and selected projects will be announced in July.

The Resident-Led Traffic Calming Program reflects the City’s commitment to safer, more accessible streets for all users. For more details and to apply, visit the  Traffic Calming and Greenways Program webpage or review the 2025 Resident-Led Traffic Calming Guidelines.
