COLUMBIA, S.C. — Indiana women’s basketball will be without sophomore guard Julianna LaMendola for the remainder of the Hoosiers’ NCAA Tournament run. LaMendola sat on the bench and sported street clothes and a boot on her left foot during Indiana’s 76-68 win over the University of Utah on Friday in the Round of 64.

After defeating the Utes, Indiana head coach Teri Moren said LaMendola suffered a left foot injury that will keep her out of the tournament.

LaMendola has missed just one other game this season, which came Feb. 6 during Indiana’s 21-point win over Rutgers. During her second season at Indiana, LaMendola started in five of 30 games when graduate student guard Sydney Parrish sustained a left knee injury against Baylor University on Nov. 24. She averaged 2.3 points and 2.1 rebounds per game this season.

Last season, LaMendola saw time in each of the Hoosiers’ three NCAA Tournament games — 14 minutes during their win over Fairfield University and a combined three minutes against the University of Oklahoma and the University of South Carolina. She scored just 4 points in each of the three games combined and tallied four rebounds against Fairfield.

The Hoosiers are set to play No. 1-seeded University of South Carolina at 3 p.m. Sunday at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina, in the Round of 32.
