WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Looking to secure a victory in its final regular season contest of 2024-25, Indiana women’s basketball traveled to Mackey Arena to face Purdue for the second matchup with its in-state rival this season.

After getting out to a quick start to secure a double-digit lead with just over two and a half minutes left in the opening quarter, the Hoosiers led by at least 9 for the rest of the matchup en route to a 77-57 victory. Indiana finished the regular season with an 18-11 overall record and a 10-8 mark in conference play.

Behind junior guard Shay Ciezki’s and graduate student guard Sydney Parrish’s 7 and 6 points, respectively, in the opening quarter, the Cream and Crimson went on a 22-2 run. The Hoosiers led the Boilermakers by 15 points after 10 minutes.

Purdue responded with its own 9-2 spurt in the early stages of the second quarter to pull within 10. The Boilermakers then pulled within 9 before the Hoosiers scored 9 points over the final three minutes of the half, leading by 15 at the break.

After the two squads largely went back and forth to begin the third quarter, Purdue went on a 9-0 run in the middle of the period but still trailed by 10.

However, Indiana again responded — this time with an 11-2 run to enter the final quarter with a 19-point lead.

The first half of the fourth quarter played out much like the third as the teams traded buckets. The Hoosiers maintained control, however, cruising to a 20-point win over the Boilermakers.

Parrish led all scorers with 20 points while Ciezki and junior guard Yarden Garzon added 18 and 15 points respectively.

In the victory, graduate student guard Chloe Moore-McNeil played the 149th game of her career — the most by a Hoosier. Garzon set the all-time 3-point record as she drained the 207th 3-pointer of her three-year career in Bloomington.

The Hoosiers now set their sights on the Big Ten Tournament, which begins Wednesday and runs until Sunday. The Cream and Crimson will likely slot into the noon matchup Thursday. Each of the four games Thursday and Friday will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network while the championship game Sunday will be televised on CBS.
