The Indiana University School of Nursing will host a free showing of the documentary Food, Insecure on April 4 from 3pm to 4:30pm in Room C1001 at the Health Sciences Building, 2631 East Discovery Parkway (adjacent to the new IU Health Bloomington Hospital). The 30-minute documentary will be followed by a panel discussion and Question-and- Answer session.

Panel members include Bloomington Mayor Kerry Thomson; Megan Betz, CEO of Mother Hubbard’s Cupboard; Erin Hollinden, Manager, Agency Partnerships at Hoosier Hills Food Bank; Emily Fortner-Nash, Clinical Dietitian, IU Health South Region; Shannon Cagle Food, Insecure’s producer; and David Duncan, Food Insecure’s Director of Photography/Editor.

Food, Insecure is more than just a film. It is a call to action. Food, Insecure is the follow-up to the award-winning documentary The Working Hungry and was created to spark conversation and a deeper understanding about the issues surrounding food insecurity in Indiana.

After the viewing, our panel will discuss how food insecurity affects the Bloomington community. We’ll also discuss the issues that need to be addressed, what we are doing here in Bloomington to address these issues, plans for the future, and ways in which you can help. We encourage you to join with us in examining these issues and about how we can work together toward effective action.
