Bloomington, Ind. – The City of Bloomington announced that Mayor Kerry Thomson will deliver the 2025 State of the City Address on Thursday, April 3, at the Waldron Arts Center (122 S Walnut St). The event is free and open to the public, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the presentation beginning at 6 p.m. A reception will follow, offering residents the opportunity to engage with city leadership, neighbors, and community partners.

The State of the City is an annual address that provides an update on Bloomington’s progress, priorities, and vision for the future. This year’s event will highlight key initiatives, including the city's approach to housing, economic development, public safety, transparency and engagement, infrastructure, and long-term financial strategies. Mayor Thomson will recap the past year’s progress and present a vision for Bloomington’s continued growth, sustainability, and inclusivity.

The evening will begin with the Bloomington Police and Fire Departments presenting the colors. It will then be followed by the National Anthem, performed by Andrea de la Rosa, Assistant Director of Small Business Development in the Economic & Sustainable Development Department. The formal presentation will conclude with a special performance by Girls Rock Bloomington, a nonprofit organization that empowers youth through music education and creative expression.

The 2025 State of the City is an opportunity for residents to hear firsthand about the city’s direction and engage with leadership on the topics shaping Bloomington’s future.

For those unable to attend in person, the event will be broadcast live and available for later viewing on Community Access Television Services (CATS), Bloomington’s local government and public access channel.
