Indiana men’s basketball’s positive momentum in the transfer portal continued Tuesday, as Sam Houston State University senior guard Lamar Wilkerson chose the Hoosiers, according to the Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman’s X post.
Wilkerson, who has one year of eligibility remaining, is the fourth transfer to commit to Indiana since the program hired Darian DeVries as its head coach March 18. He joins guard Conor Enright and forwards Tucker DeVries and Reed Bailey. The Hoosiers’ 2025-26 roster also includes incoming freshman forward Trent Sisley.
The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Wilkerson averaged 20.8 points, four rebounds and 2.1 assists per game this past season. He scored in double figures in all 32 appearances and tallied at least 20 points in 17 games en route to earning first-team All-Conference USA honors for the second consecutive season.
Wilkerson shot 47.7% from the field and 44.5% from beyond the arc during the 2024-25 season. He finished tied for fifth with 3.1 triples per game and seventh in 3-point percentage among all qualifying Division I players.
When Sam Houston State traveled to Bloomington for a Dec. 3, 2024, matchup with the Hoosiers, Wilkerson scored 18 points on 8-for-18 shooting while making 2 of 4 attempts from distance.
The Ashdown, Arkansas, native averaged a team-high 13.8 points per game in 2023-24, which was his first year as a starter at Sam Houston State. Wilkerson came off the bench as a sophomore in 2022-23, averaging 7.4 points and 3 rebounds per game across 17.4 minutes per game.
Wilkerson started his career at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He scored 16.7 points and dished 2.7 assists per game as a true freshman in 2021-22 while being tabbed as an honorable mention All-American.
Indiana still has 10 scholarships available for the 2025-26 season.
