Indiana men’s basketball loses out to Oklahoma on Miami veteran Nijel Pack

spiumbbpack040725

Former University of Miami guard Nijel Pack will transfer to the University of Oklahoma, according to On3 Sports’ Joe Tipton X post Monday.

The 23-year-old Pack averaged 14.3 points, 3.0 assists and 1.1 steals per game across an extensive five-year college career in which he totaled 122 games played. He began his career at Kansas State University — where he played for two seasons — before transferring to Miami as a highly touted transfer.

Pack was a member of the Hurricanes’ 2022-23 Final Four squad that defeated Indiana in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32. In three seasons at Miami, he was a 38.5% 3-point shooter and averaged 5.9 attempts from beyond the arc per game.

After missing multiple games with a knee injury in 2023-24, Pack was once again plagued with injuries in 2024-25. He started the Hurricane’s first nine games before suffering a right ankle injury, which proved to be season-ending.

The veteran Pack has shown elite scoring capabilities in his career despite the unceremonious end to his tenure in the Sunshine State. He averaged 17.4 points per game and shot 43.6% from beyond the arc during a sophomore campaign at Kansas State that earned him First Team All-Big 12 honors.

Pack was a product of Lawrence Central High School where he led the Bears to a Class 4A sectional title in 2018-19. He was a member of the same recruiting class as former Indiana guards Trey Galloway and Anthony Leal but — as a three-star recruit — didn’t receive the same attention from the program and wasn’t given an offer.

Once more Pack will remain away from his home-state of Indiana as he heads to the Sooners for the 2025-26 season.
