Indiana men’s basketball landed its seventh transfer of the offseason Tuesday, as former Drexel University guard Jason Drake committed to the Hoosiers, according to On3 Sports’ Joe Tipton’s X post.
Drake began his career at Cleveland State University in 2022-23, playing in 17 games during his freshman season.
Ahead of the 2023-24 season, Drake then transferred to Butler Community College for his sophomore season. He averaged 9.6 points, 3.7 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 46.5% from the field and 42.1% from 3-point range in the junior college ranks.
Drake returned to Division I competition in 2024-25 at Drexel. The Oak Park, Michigan, native started in all 33 of the Dragons’ contests, averaging 11.1 points, 3.1 assists and three rebounds per contest. He connected on 42.8% of his attempts from the field and 39.6% from beyond the arc.
Just like former Troy University guard Tayton Conerway — who committed to Indiana on April 16 — and all athletes in similar positions, Drake’s season at the JUCO level does not count toward his NCAA eligibility thanks to an injunction. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Drake has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Drake joins six other transfers on Indiana’s 2025-26 roster, which is the first under new head coach Darian DeVries:
- G Conor Enright — one season remaining
- G Lamar Wilkerson — one season remaining
- G Jasai Miles — two seasons remaining
- G Tayton Conerway — one season remaining
- F Reed Bailey — one season remaining
- F Tucker DeVries — one season remaining
Incoming forward Trent Sisley is the Hoosiers’ lone freshman in the 2025 class. Forward Luke Goode is seeking a fifth season of eligibility via a medical waiver. Goode broke his foot in a preseason scrimmage in 2022-23 against the University of Kansas, which led to him playing in just 10 games in his sophomore season.
The rest of the Hoosiers from the 2024-25 squad either exhausted their eligibility, have committed to a new school or are still in the transfer portal.
The transfer portal is slated to close Tuesday, meaning athletes can no longer enter after the deadline unless their program undergoes a coaching change. Players who are in the portal have until respective institutions enrollment deadlines to commit elsewhere.
