Indiana football secured a commitment from University of California, Berkeley senior transfer wide receiver Jonathan Brady on Saturday night, Brady told On3 Sports. Brady has one year of eligibility remaining.
Brady spent the 2024 season playing with quarterback Fernando Mendoza, who transferred to Indiana in December and is expected to start under center this fall. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Brady caught 36 passes for 386 yards and three touchdowns in 2024.
A native of Compton, California, Brady started his college career at New Mexico State University. As a true freshman in 2022, Brady made 23 catches for 310 yards and three scores. He followed with a breakout 2023 campaign, recording 39 receptions for 621 yards and four touchdowns while adding another score on the ground.
Across 41 career games, Brady has logged 98 catches for 1,317 yards and 10 touchdowns. He joins an Indiana receiver room headlined by senior Elijah Sarratt, redshirt junior Omar Cooper Jr., fifth-year senior E.J. Williams Jr. and senior Makai Jackson.
The Hoosiers lost senior receiver Tyler Morris to a season-ending knee injury during spring camp. Indiana expected Morris to play significant snaps in the slot, but his absence prompted the rest of the Hoosiers’ receivers to cross-train both inside and outside.
Brady played 456 snaps at wide receiver and only 30 snaps in the slot in 2024, according to Pro Football Focus. While he was at New Mexico State, he saw 864 snaps at slot receiver from 2022-23.
