No, you didn't miss the game.
That was the final score of last night's match-up between IU's Devan Dumes and Notre Dame's Luke Harangody. The two were participating in the Xbox 360 Players' Party hosted by EA Sports and the Maui Sheraton last night.
Dumes and freshman guard Daniel Moore represented the Hoosiers in the March Madness '09 tournament. Two players from each team were entered into the tournament, and the players battled in three-minute halves in front of their teams. Moore lost to Tory Jackson of ND, but Dumes prevailed over Harangody in a spirited video game showdown.
The most entertaining part of the evening was how into it the players were. They hooted and hollered after every made basket. Malik Story and Nick Williams seemed to be enjoying the action the most. After every made basket by Tijan Jobe (in the video game), all of the players high-fived Jobe and congratulated him. When Tom Pritchard laid in a shot from point blank instead of dunking it, Story screamed, "That's real! Just like in real life!"
While the video games were going on, the players and coaches mingled with one another. Tyler (UNC) and Luke (ND) Zeller were inseparable the entire evening. We spotted Tom Crean having a conversation with Roy Williams in one corner. Ty Lawson was by far the most outgoing player at the party. And the drink of choice amongst the players appeared to be non-alcoholic pina colatas.
The morning press conferences are about to begin and I'll be back later this afternoon to give you an update. If it rains again, expect a lengthy one. Mahalo!
