This is the true post of Little 500 riders picked to have their lives surrounding America's Greatest College Weekend posted to the web. To find out what happens when the IDS stops just reporting and starts getting real...check here for The Real Ride -- Little 500 style.
Little 5 season is now in full action. Phi Delt was able to qualify for the race in a time of 2:22.98. We have had about the same time three of the last four years, which is very interesting. Our sixth place qual run put us in a great position for the start of the race, something that we don't look to squander.
In ITT action this past week, we had many great performances that I would like to take note of. Our team had 8 riders that rode under 2:35 and within the top 60 places. Given the winds this past week, I also think the entire field's times were great in comparison to recent years where the event was held under perfect conditions. On our team, Steve Sharp was able to put together a fast four laps, and he ended up 2nd overall, right where I predicted he would be. I finished second for our team in fifth place. It was a fun day.
This Saturday will be a competitive day at the track. My goal this year is to advance out of the second round, after I have never really put together a good showing in the Miss N Out Sprints. Our team comes in with strong performances in the past from Matt Kain and Nick Sovinski. It will be a fun day, with lots of sunburns. I encourage all to attend.
Now that we are also a few weeks out from the race, it is all starting to come together. Every year its exciting to see the months and years of training take shape and reach a peak in these coming weeks. This year will be no different. Phi Delt will be in black on race day, unless we can get white.
