GateHouse Media, LLC bought the Herald-Times newspaper and all other Hoosier Times group newspapers, which were owned by Schurz Communications, Inc. since 1966. Senior executive editor Rich Jackson and sports editor Patrick Beane were laid off from their jobs Friday as part of mass layoffs at Gannett newspapers across the country.
