The sun is pictured as it's fully covered by the moon during the solar eclipse April 8, 2024, at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. IU hosted the Hoosier Cosmic Celebration to celebrate the eclipse.Bloomington was one of the hubs where people gathered to see the solar event. It was along the "path of totality," the path that stretched from Texas to Maine where people in the U.S. could see the total eclipse completely. Over 30 eclipse-related events took place in the Bloomington area, as thousands of people travelled to the city. The city projected that over 200,000 people would travel to Bloomington for the eclipse prior to the day of, however it appeared the true number was somewhere in the tens of thousands.
