This meeting was held one day after the other final candidate, Keith Humphrey, spoke at a separate town hall Monday in the Indiana Memorial Union Maple Room.

Solar manufacturing company Canadian Solar announced Oct. 30 it will invest $800 million in a solar cell production facility in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Construction is expected to start in late 2025.

One of my favorite things to do during the year is walk through the foliage. All the red and orange and yellow leaves are a welcome change after months of hot, humid weather and plain, green leaves. But the fall leaves save us; they encourage us to go out and enjoy being in nature with a different backdrop.

Following public pressure, Bloomington plans to reschedule site improvements for the construction of the Bicentennial Gateway Project in Miller-Showers Park to the spring of 2024, according to an Oct. 27 press release. Described as a monolith by some members of the public, the structure has drawn fierce criticism from a group of citizens.

The first edition of Indiana University’s fashion magazine, “SEASON,” was published in October 2018. Since then, the student-led organization has amassed a participation of over 100 members and offers opportunities to gain experience in merchandise design, garment styling, photography, marketing, editorial writing and creative design in the creation of their biannual publication. SEASON magazine has also spread its reach to Spotify with their podcast “What’s in SEASON?” and to followers of @sznmagazine on Instagram and TikTok.

The Indiana University Police Department responded to McNutt Quad after a report of an armed robbery around 3 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of E. 13th Street. IUPD issued three IU Notify Bloomington alerts with information about the situation from 3:19 a.m. to 4:25 a.m.

Natalie Fitzgibbons: Fall festivities like pumpkin patches and apple orchards can be better than summer activities of going to the beach or water park. There’s something more peaceful and nostalgic about it. I think it’s because you can always go to a warmer climate for beach and water parks, but it has to be fall for pumpkin patches and apple orchards.

In 2011, Frank Crawford, an unhoused Bloomington resident, died. He was disabled, struggled to walk and was too sick to be living outside, Forrest Gilmore, the executive director of antipoverty nonprofit Beacon, said. He rotated between nursing care and the streets, beginning the cycle each time he would become too sick for the streets and too healthy for the nursing home. He was released from nursing care for the last time two weeks prior to his death.

Monroe County Humane Association hosted its 28th Run for the Animals and Barktoberfest on Oct. 1 at Karst Farm Park. The 5K started at 9 a.m. with registration and ended at 1 p.m. Afterwards, there was an awards ceremony and two contests.

On Saturday, before the Waldron, Hill and Buskirk Park grass patches filled with picnic blankets and lawn chairs, volunteers for the Lotus Education and Arts Foundation’s 30th festival set up their tent stations. The event included artist lectures and demonstration workshops, live performances on Lotus’ main stage and visual arts activities in the artists camp from noon-5 p.m.
