The Latin American Music Center held the “Julián Carrillo 150th Anniversary Concert” on Thursday. Held in Auer Hall, the concert featured nine works composed by Julián Carrillo and was the final event for the LAMC’s lecture series on the composer. The concert honored the 150th anniversary of Carrillo’s birthday.

A bill that will prohibit students from using their student IDs as proof of identification when voting is on its way to Indiana Governor Mike Braun’s desk to be signed into law or vetoed. He has seven days to do so after it is signed by the President of the Senate— on the eighth day, the bill automatically becomes law.

For the first time since March 23, Indiana baseball (19-14, 9-6 Big Ten) will play away from Bloomington, as it prepares for a trip to Illinois Field for a matchup with Illinois (18-12, 7-5 Big Ten). It will be a three-game set with the Fighting Illini, who are coming off a 10-run loss in eight innings at Illinois State University on April 8.

I’ve tried writing this column several times now. It started purely as a reaction to the news that Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University graduate student and Palestinian activist, had been arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in March. The video of the arrest shows plainclothes officers detaining Khalil in the lobby of a university-owned apartment building in front of and to the surprise of his wife. I was chilled by this news, as anyone who values free speech should be, and needed to publish something, anything, about it.
