Women's basketball loses 2nd straight game

The Hoosiers held the lead against Toledo for 37 minutes Sunday, but it was not enough to hold off Toledo in a 56-52 loss in Toledo, Ohio.

IU kept Kentucky to just 36 percent shooting Saturday at Rupp Arena, but the Wildcats pulled down 18 offensive boards in total and outscored the Hoosiers 21-4 in second-chance points.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – IU played Kentucky tough for the first 30 minutes of the game on Saturday at Rupp Arena.Unfortunately for the Hoosiers, they fell apart down the stretch in an 81-62 loss to the Wildcats.

When it comes to recruiting NBA-caliber talent to a college team, there is not a better head coach right now than Kentucky’s John Calipari.  But crafting a team around such top-heavy talent, while it may have success in the short-term, is not a sustainable long-term philosophy.

The IU women’s basketball team (5-3) will try to extend a three-game winning streak at home against a 4-3  Miami (OH) squad, before leaving Bloomington for a three-game road trip.

Women's basketball upsets No. 24 Nebraska

The Hoosiers (5-3) rode a 40-32 rebounding advantage, including a 17-10 edge in offensive boards, and senior guard Jori Davis' 21 points to hand the Cornhuskers (6-1) their first loss of the 2010-11 campaign.


Men's Basketball v. Savannah State

IU defeats Savannah State 79-57

Junior guard Verdell Jones led all scorers with 18 points to help the Hoosiers rebound from their first loss and advance to 7-1.
