Ferrell makes leadership jump

When sophomore guard Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell and senior forward Will Sheehey went to Russia to play for Team USA in the World University Games last summer, Ferrell was the youngest player on the roster — the only freshman on the team.

After a woeful shooting start in the first half – just 11-for-40 from the field – the IU men’s basketball team managed a charge in the second half, led by the reformed 3-point shooting of senior forward Will Sheehey to narrowly escape with a 73-72 win over LIU Brooklyn at Assembly Hall.

Vonleh named Freshman of the Week

Noah Vonleh’s trips to the line were just a handful of the 55 shots the Hoosiers took at the line Friday night. Of those 55, IU sunk 45 to set a school record that was previously 43.

Largely fueled by 55 free throws stemming by 36 personal fouls by Chicago State, the IU men’s basketball team pulled off the team’s first win of the season with ease, defeating the Cougars 100-72 Friday night at Assembly Hall.

Davis, Robinson make first appearance in game

During the game, Robinson, making his first game appearance at Assembly Hall, was fouled when he had an open path to the basket on a fast break. He said before the foul he had big plans for what he thought would be his first-ever dunk in an IU uniform.

As the Hoosiers began to get into a rhythm on defense, the Chargers lost steam in a hurry, scoring 15 points in the second half to fall to the Hoosiers 79-39 Monday night at Assembly Hall.
