The Hoosiers improved to 2-0 for the regular season with a 78-53 win at Assembly Hall. Sophomore guard Victor Oladipo led IU with 21 points.

Behind an offensive outburst of 65 percent shooting and four players in double figures, the IU men’s basketball team won its 14th straight season opener Friday night at Assembly Hall with a 96-66 win against Stony Brook.

The sophomore duo combined for 29 points on 12-of-15 shooting to lead the IU men’s basketball team to a 96-66 victory against Stony Brook to open the season on Friday night at Assembly Hall.

Make no mistake, the 2012-2013 Indiana Hoosiers will be a new benchmark for this program. Whereas modest four-star recruits were satisfactory in the 2009 class (Jordan Hulls, Christian Watford, Maurice Creek) and five-star forward Cody Zeller was considered a surprise in Crean’s current freshman class, the class of 2012 is why the term “Indiana basketball” will again carry a once-respected connotation.

The Hoosiers won their first and only exhibition game, defeating the University of Indianapolis, 90-72, Saturday  at Assembly Hall. IU was aided by a 50-point outburst in the first half, that allowed IU a double-digit lead the entire second half.
