Exhibition match ends in tie for IU, Louisville

The spring exhibition season is usually a time to play a few casual games in the warm breeze. But in Tuesday night’s match against Louisville, the breeze was frigid and the game was anything but casual. The teams went into overtime, but the game ultimately ended in a 1-1 tie.

IU finally has its man in Tom Crean. Crean and IU Director of Athletics Rick Greenspan landed at Monroe County Airport Tuesday evening, greeted by about a dozen fans and a couple members of the media.

IU players comment on new coach

Several IU men's basketball players commented to IDS reporters while playing a game of pick-up basketball Tuesday night at the HYPER. Jamarcus Ellis wants to be a Hoosier. And apparently, that’s been the story the entire time. "I never had no plans to leave, it was just (Dan) Dakich being the head coach and we didn’t see eye-to-eye on things," Ellis said.  BLOG:  Basketblog

Ellis, Bassett kicked off the team

IU director of media relations J.D. Campbell told the IDS this morning that sophomore guard Armon Bassett and Jamarcus Ellis have been officially let go from the team. Campbell did not give a reason for the dismissal. Campbell said he had no idea if a new head coach would reinstate the players. IU is expected to name a coach by Thursday or Friday of this week.  BLOG:  Basketblog

Weather shortens final home regatta

The IU rowing team had to battle the weather on Lake Lemon, facing choppy water and a brutal wind. The Hoosiers came away with victories in the two varsity eight boats before the conditions forced the varsity four, novice eight and novice four to be canceled.
