Women’s water polo team sets goals for rookie season

After graduating six seniors from a team that went 19-14 last year and completed the Hoosiers’ third consecutive undefeated 7-0 season in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Western Division, the IU women’s water polo team is ready to take on a new season.

IU men’s basketball coach Kelvin Sampson lied to University and NCAA investigators about his role in recruiting violations, according to an NCAA report IU released Wednesday. IU Director of Athletics Rick Greenspan did not confirm or deny whether there had been any discussion to terminate Sampson’s contract. NCAA: Sampson misled IU about recruiting calls

Indiana coach Kelvin Sampson and his staff violated telephone recruiting restrictions imposed because of his previous violations at Oklahoma, then lied about it to the school and NCAA investigators, according to an NCAA report released Wednesday. Ratliff parts with Sampson, team

The IU men’s basketball team has only eight games remaining in its regular season schedule. Senior A.J. Ratliff will not play in any of them. The IU Athletics Department announced Tuesday that the guard has left the team.

Greenspan says Sampson will coach team until further notice

After the University received a list of five major violations committed by IU men’s basketball coach Kelvin Sampson and his staff, IU fans took to message boards and blogs, almost unanimously calling for Sampson’s job. Some fans began discussing potential replacements before any action is taken by the NCAA or the University against Sampson.

IU hosts Wisconsin to start pivotal homestand

Maybe growing up’s not so bad after all, at least if you’re an IU basketball fan. The No. 13 IU men’s basketball team hosts No. 15 Wisconsin in a battle of two of the Big Ten’s top teams tonight at Assembly Hall. Despite the loss earlier in the season, several Hoosiers said they’re not the same team they were when Wisconsin badgered IU 62-49 in Madison, Wis., a couple weeks ago.

Although the men’s soccer recruiting class did not receive the media hype associated with college football’s National Signing Day, IU coach Mike Freitag assembled a top recruiting class under the radar.

Three freshmen football players face charges

An IU freshman football player was arrested early Sunday morning and charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, public intoxication and resisting arrest after police found him passed out in a McNutt Residence Center stairwell.
