Two down, one to go

It wouldn't be Bloomington without unpredictable weather, and Saturday afternoon was a perfect example. After a week of sunny days, Little 500 riders mounted bikes and braved cold and wind for the second of the Little 500 series events. "Once again we had bad weather," said Alex Ihnen, IU Student Foundation assistant director and Little 500 coordinator. "There is strategy involved in whether you want to pull into the wind." Saturday's event marked the second of the Little 500 series events with the final event, Team Pursuit, set to take place Thursday. Miss-N-Out is divided into four rounds with approximately eight riders in the first round heat. Riders take four trips around the track, eliminating a rider at each lap. The final lap of the heat determines the winner and two runners up that will advance to the next round. The second round is made up of six riders from different heats with the same format as the first round but only two advance. The third round features eight riders per heat, and the final six riders of the round advance to the finals.

The Eastern Illinois Invitational meet kept a team score but the Hoosiers did not focus on that aspect.

Poor weather freezes out Hoosiers at home

If there was supposed to be a home course advantage in this weekend's Indiana Invitational, Mother Nature did her part to level the playing field. The IU women's golf team finished in fourth place in the only home tournament for the team this year.

Down to one pitch

·

The Hoosier softball team came within one pitch of winning its first Big Ten match-up since April 28, 2001. Unfortunately, that pitch was sent over the left field wall for a two-run homer that sent the game into extra innings and eventually led to a 4-3 IU loss.

·

Coming off of a sweep of Wright State and pulling the team record back to .500, the Hoosier softball team is heading into this weekend's four-game home stand with some steam. Junior duo taking IU to top of leaderboards

·

In baseball, a 1-2 punch in the starting rotation can elevate a mediocre team to a World Series title. The arena of women's golf is no different. Not to suggest that the IU's women's golf team was mediocre last year, but its inability to achieve consistency hindered its chances to win a tournament. The team's lack of a tournament title last year was the first such occurrence since 1987.

IU finally home for weekend invitational

·

As the weather warms up so does IU's women's golf team. The team started the season off by winning two of their first four tournaments and placing second and third in the other two. But, the golf year is broken up into two seasons, the fall and the spring. The problem of a three month layoff was compounded by the miserable winter in Bloomington.
