IU wins regional championship 6-1

IU won its first baseball regional championship with a 6-1 win against Austin Peay Sunday night in Bloomington. The Hoosiers will advance to Tallahassee, Fla., to play Florida State in the Super Regionals.

IU moves to 2-0 in tourney with 15-6 win

No. 1 seed IU defeated No. 2 seed Austin Peay 15-6 to snap the Governor's 16-game winning streak and advance to the regional championship game Sunday as the only undefeated team left in the Bloomington Regional.

Walkoff home run give IU 5-4 win

Chad Clark ripped an 0-1 slider from Karch Kowalczyk into the left-field bullpen for a two-run, walk-off homer that propelled the Hoosiers to a 5-4 win against Valparaiso and completed a miraculous four-run ninth inning comeback Friday at Bart Kaufman Field.

11 Hoosiers continue to NCAA Championships

Seniors Andy Bayer, Derek Drouin, Zach Mayhew and Emma Kimoto and juniors Kyla Buckley and Darius King will all return to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive year.Those six will also be joined by graduate student Scott Houston, junior Robby Nierman, sophomore Taja Moore and freshmen Sophie Gutermuth and Josh Roche,All 11 Hoosiers will travel to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8.

Florida, Austin Peay, Valpo in IU regional

IU's first NCAA Regional in Bloomington will include Florida, Austin Peay and Valparaiso. IU will open play with Valpo Friday. IU, the No. 1 seed in the regional, took two of three from Florida, the No. 2 seed in the regional, in the regular season.

Kanaan wins first Indy 500

Fan-favorite Tony Kanaan won the fastest 500 in Indianapolis Motor Speedway history, capturing the 97th running of the Indianapolis 500 Sunday, his first in 12 attempts.

IU wins Big Ten with 4-3 walkoff victory

Scott Donley hit a walk-off single to left-center with the bases loaded to beat Nebraska 4-3 Sunday afternoon at Target Field in Minneapolis, giving IU its first Big Ten Tournament championship since 2009.

The IU baseball team scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth, all coming after a throwing error by Ohio State starter Brian King, to beat the Buckeyes 11-3 Friday at Target Field.

Local driver looks to leave impact on Indy 500

Conor Daly, born and raised in Noblesville, Ind., will again make the short drive to the IMS for this year’s Indy 500, continuing his family’s May tradition. There will be one slight difference, however. Instead of merely spectating, Daly will be in the field for the Indianapolis 500.

IU tops Minnesota 4-2, will face OSU

Ryan Halstead closed out Minnesota in the ninth for the school-record 21st save of his career, preserving IU’s 4-2 win over Minnesota in game five of the 2013 Big Ten baseball Tournament at Target Field.
