Hoosiers victorious in season opener

Kicking off the season with a win, IU wrestling defeated Manchester at home 44-12. The night consisted of solid performances from all weight classes, including six pins and multiple takedowns.

IU out of running for Big Ten title

IU’s match against Northwestern ended in a double overtime 1-1 draw for the once-top two teams in the Big Ten. Both teams had a fighting chance for the season title.

Randle El honored for time at IU

After graduating 11 years ago with a degree in sports communication and pursuing a nine-year NFL career, Antwaan Randle El will be inducted into the IU Athletics Hall of Fame Friday and recognized at halftime of IU’s football game Saturday.

The IU field hockey team avenged its loss to Northwestern earlier in the season by defeating the Wildcats 4-0 and advancing to the semifinal round in the Big Ten Tournament.

Only one week ago, IU was on the verge of a 12-game Big Ten losing streak. Now, the Hoosiers are suddenly in second place in the Leaders Division after last week’s 31-17 victory against Illinois.

This weekend, the IU men’s football team returns to Memorial Stadium after splitting two games on the road. Iowa on the other hand, comes into Saturday’s game with back-to-back losses to Penn State at home and Northwestern on the road.

Hoosiers to take on Wildcats, hype tonight

Thursday night, the IU men’s basketball team will have its first chance to back the hype, in an exhibition game against Indiana Wesleyan, that has surrounded Bloomington and the IU campus since the Hoosiers made it to the Sweet 16 last season for the first time since 2002.

Turner to enter Hall of Fame

Former IU basketball player Landon Turner will be inducted into the IU Athletics Hall of Face, despite playing only three seasons for the Hoosiers.

IU defeats KYSU in exhibition

IU Coach Curt Miller got his first victory for the Hoosiers, as the women’s basketball team defeated Kentucky State 77-34 Tuesday at Assembly Hall.

IU freshman Brooklyn Snodgrass earned the first weekly awards of her collegiate career after being tabbed both the Big Ten’s Swimmer of the Week and Freshman of the Week.

In the season finale for both teams, Northwestern and the Hoosiers will face off Thursday at 8 p.m. at Bill Armstrong Stadium in a game with significant title implications. IU must defeat the Wildcats to have any chance at winning the championship.
