IU in 12th place after day 1 of competition in Illinois

The IU men’s golf team struggled in the first round of the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational on Sunday. With two rounds remaining, the Hoosiers stand in 12th place out of the 14-team field with a score of 300.

Hoosiers go 0-2 during weekend

The IU field hockey team finished the weekend winless after falling 3-0 at Michigan State on Friday and losing in the final 18 seconds at Ball State on Sunday, 3-2.

The men’s and women’s cross country teams will face their first real tests of the year this weekend when they travel to Lawrence, Kan., to run in the Rim Rock Farm Classic.

After three road games resulting in three conference losses, IU Coach Mick Lyon said the IU women’s soccer team is happy to return home this weekend to face Illinois and Northwestern.

After falling in their first two conference games of the year, IU (8-6 overall, 0-2 Big Ten) will look to recover this weekend against Illinois (7-5, 1-1) and Northwestern (11-2).

It has been almost 12 years to the day since IU’s football team won a Big Ten opener. On Saturday, the Hoosiers (2-1) will attempt to end that streak as they travel to Evanston, Ill., to take on the Northwestern Wildcats (4-0).

Hoosiers fall to Notre Dame

The No. 8 Fighting Irish found their redemption following a 1-0 Hoosier loss. Despite the normally successful second-half efforts from No. 11 Indiana, the team was unable to find the net following a header goal on a restart from Grant Van De Casteele.
