The IU men’s tennis team defeated No. 72 Northwestern 5-2 Friday but lost 6-1 at No. 32 Louisville on Sunday, snapping the Hoosiers’ 12-match winning streak.


Cutters win Little 500 for 5th year straight

After an early crash, the Cutters looked out of contention, but the team hasn’t won four-straight titles for no reason.The Cutters made up a lap and fought for the lead, letting Phi Delta Theta lead the final five laps until they went in for an exchange on Lap 199. Teter dominates Little 500 field to take second straight victory lap

For the second year in a row, Teter Cycling became champion of the women’s Little 500 race with an unofficial time of 1:10.43, with Pi Beta Phi and Delta Gamma rounding out the top three.

When Caitlin Van Kooten crossed the finish line, she wasn’t going at race speed. She wasn’t worried about who was on her back wheel. It didn’t even matter if she slowed down 30 yards before the finish line to throw her hands in the air and scream.She won the race with 50 laps remaining in the 100-lap race when she lapped the field. Teter won the Little 500 for the second straight year.

Women’s golf to face numerous Big Ten foes in Columbus

After being host to its lone tournament of the year — the Indiana Invitational at Otter Creek Golf Course — and finishing fourth in the rain-shortened 36-hole tournament, the IU women’s golf team will travel to Columbus, Ohio to play the Scarlet Course in the Lady Buckeye Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.

Young set to compete despite Cat-2 races

Despite the fact that Eric Young has ridden in multiple Category 2 races, which normally goes against IU Student Foundation rules, he remains eligible to compete in Saturday’s Little 500 race, said IUSF Little 500 race director Pam Loebig.

Neuenswander, distance runners lead Hoosiers into weekend meet

The Big Ten has named senior pole-vaulter Vera Neuenswander “Athlete of the Week” for a second time. Coach Ron Helmer said she is the only pole-vaulter in IU history to jump the heights she is at right now. Her jump of 4.25 meters not only won the event Saturday at the Border Battle, but also put her into the nation’s top-10.

Softball to host Wisconsin for two-game series

The IU Softball team defeated Indiana State 5-2 Thursday afternoon to extend their win streak to five games and improve their record to 25-15 (6-2). The Hoosiers have won 14 of their last 16 games overall and improved to 10-1 at home. The Hoosiers welcome Wisconsin this weekend for a two game set.

Softball vs. Ohio State

IU sweeps doubleheader with OSU

The IU softball team improved its record to 24-15 (6-2) after sweeping a doubleheader Wednesday against Ohio State. The Hoosiers outscored the conference rival Buckeyes by a combined total of 12-2 in the two games, winning the second game 9-0 in five innings due to the eight-run mercy rule.
