IU athletics kicks off Tailgate Tour

The sounds of music and conversation created a “buzz in the air” Tuesday.At least that’s how Scott Dolson, IU Varsity Club senior associate athletic director for external operations, described the Varsity Club’s 2009 tailgate.

The IU gymnastics club might not be a Division I varsity sport, but flips, jumps and turns are still a part of its daily routine, as is the daily battle to achieve perfection in the gym.

A disappointed Danica Patrick walks away from her car after being denied one last qualifying attempt before the 6 p.m. deadline Saturday afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Patrick earned a 10th place qualifying position marking the fifth consecutive season she will start in the top 10. Patrick's best qualifying result came as rookie in 2005 when she qualified fourth.

Indianapolis 500 Lineup

The Indianapolis 500 is gearing up for its 93rd annual race May 24. On Saturday, 11 drivers qualified for the race with Helio Castroneves taking the pole. This is Castroneves’ third pole position since 2003. Positions 12 through 22 were placed Sunday and the last 11 drivers will race for their positions Saturday.

IU set for NCAA Regionals

After falling short of a Big Ten Championship, the No. 11 IU men’s golf team is setting off for the Sunshine State for the NCAA Regionals.

IU overcome by Purdue on senior day

IU would not succumb on its senior day without giving rival Purdue a hard fight, and it did so twice in a season-ending doubleheader Saturday.

2 Hoosiers claim conference honors

For each of the 11 years IU coach Mike Mayer has led the men’s golf program, at least one IU golfer has played for the All-Big Ten team.

Team hopes to give seniors a proper send-off

When IU senior outfielder and New York native Chris Hervey stepped foot on the Bloomington campus for the first time, he described it as a “culture shock.” Four years later, there is no place he would rather be.
